Accessibility statement

Our commitment

This website is run by Coventure, part of the University of Lincoln. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it, whatever their sight, hearing, mobility or cognitive needs, and whether they navigate with a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader or voice control.

That means you should be able to:

• Change colours, contrast levels and fonts in your browser.
• Zoom in to 300% without text spilling off the screen.
• Navigate the whole site using just a keyboard.
• Listen to the site with a screen reader.
• Turn off animation, which we honour automatically if your device asks for reduced motion.

We've also tried to keep the writing plain, because clear language is an accessibility feature too.

How accessible this website is

This site is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, because of the issues listed below.

What we know isn't accessible yet

We're being straight with you rather than claiming more than we can stand behind. As things stand:

• We haven't had an independent audit. Everything below comes from our own testing, so there will be problems we don't know about yet. That is exactly why the reporting route below matters.
• Two PDFs are not fully accessible. The Virtual Tenancy application form and its terms and conditions are documents we were given rather than ones we built, and we have not checked them against the standard. If you need either in a different format, ask us and we will get it to you.
• Some photography is a stand-in. A few images are placeholders while the real ones are taken. Their alternative text describes what is actually on screen, so nothing is mislabelled, but the picture will change.
• One table scrolls sideways on a narrow screen. The package comparison on the Virtual Tenancy page is too wide for a phone, so it scrolls within its own box. It can be reached and scrolled with a keyboard, and the same information is written out above it in the package list.

Tell us if you hit a problem

If you find something you can't use, or you need information from this site in a different format such as large print, an accessible PDF or easy read, please get in touch and tell us what you need. We'll come back to you and we'll aim to sort it out.

Reports genuinely help. If something is broken for you, it's probably broken for someone else who hasn't told us.

If we don't put it right

The Equality and Human Rights Commission enforces the accessibility regulations. If you're unhappy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service, which handles these complaints.

How we tested this site

This statement was prepared on 24 September 2026 following our own review of the whole site. It has not been independently audited.

What we checked, on every page:

• Colour contrast, measured against the pixels actually rendered rather than the values in our code, at the 4.5:1 minimum for body text and 3:1 for large text. No text on the site currently falls below that.
• Headings, checking each page has exactly one main heading and that no level is skipped.
• Images, checking every one carries alternative text or is correctly marked as decorative.
• Forms, checking every field has a label a screen reader will read out.
• Links and buttons, checking each has a name, so nothing is announced as just “button”.
• Keyboard use, including a skip link to the main content, visible focus on everything you can reach, and menus and dialogs that close with Escape and hand focus back.
• Layout at phone, tablet and desktop widths.
• Reduced motion, which turns off animation when your device asks for it.

A full independent audit is planned. When it happens we will update this statement with what it finds and when we expect to fix it.
